That article about the debate between MW2 and BC2 is pretty spot on. The only complaint I have about it is that it seems like that author is a bit biased toward BC2 since he’s played more of BC2 than he has of MW2 (since he keeps getting killed by harriers).

Here are the reasons I usually cuss at the TV when playing each game.

    1) Air support just owns my ass when its not a teammates or my own.
    2) If I don’t have a 100% full connection to the host, then the number of times I kill someone, then end up dead myself because of lag is much too high and very frustrating. Perfect headshots with snipers that don’t kill and stabs that miss when they’re 2 inches away are not fun.
    3) Spawn campers in objective games are annoying as hell.

    1) It takes too many shots to kill ANYONE unless you’re playing hardcore.
    2) Lag is another big issue, but it at least usually ends with people killing each other.
    3) Squad teamplay simlpy sucks if you don’t have a good squad or don’t have friends online. You definitely have to play with people you know for it to be much fun.
    4) It takes FOREVER to unlock good gadgets, weapons, and specializations that are so essential to team-based gameplay.

I’m intrigued by the Bungie/Activision deal but wonder if it could possibly be a big FU to West and Zampella. It will be interesting to see if they can do something successful other than a Halo game.

Telltale’s Pilot program is awesome and works perfectly into the types of games they are doing. I haven’t played many of their games but I think it’s something that get can people who don’t play a lot (like wives/girlfriends) into a game. The only downside I can see is if the pilots do get released and some people love it but not enough to support more episodes, people will be disappointed and hesitant to try something else new.

@pixelmixer – I’m of the mind anymore that you can’t compare the two games, each one attracts a different style of shooter fan, so bravo to both developers for that. I think both games are balanced extremely well for their audiences.

@colefacekilla – My guess is the Bungie deal was already in the works, and probably helped Activision act they way they did to oust the IW guys. Honestly, aside from the lawsuit ugliness, this is working out the best for everyone. IW and Bungie needed fresh starts.

The other side to this Telltale stuff is that they can break new ground with episodic game pricing as well as the pricing or free pilot content. If they get the attention of these new players with the pilots, that can only be a good thing, even if some fans are disappointed when their favorites aren’t picked up.
