Meanwhile… You Go Play In Your Tower

Meanwhile… we’ve actually been playing games. Each week we recap our recent gaming experiences and tell you what we’re looking forward to, so you can use your time more wisely than we have. We’re getting a little lost and sidetracked here. Nothing seems to be going as planned. Ethan is playing with blocks, Justin thinks it’s 2004, and Ben is excited about his new PS3. It’s gonna be a long winter.

World of Warcraft

We're from New Jersey

My Xbox must have been confused because I avoided it all week for the first time in this site’s existence. Last week as all World of Warcraft as I dove headfirst into finding as many changes to the low level areas as I could. I envy any brand new players as it is so much easier to get into than it was on day one. When I do come up for air for something different I’ll be looking toward upping my score in Angry Birds and finishing campaign on NBA Jam. The rest of my console titles will be staying wrapped until I finish my initial fix.

Like last week I played ‘Splosion Man and Mass Effect 2. I’m still stuck on the boss I mentioned last week on the podcast in ‘Splosion Man and have yet to dive into strategy guides online because I have more pride than that. It doesn’t look like I will be straying from that familiar territory in the near future, at least until Christmas rolls around.

I am experiencing Minecraft and loving it. It has stolen my attention from many many games and I feel that my face could explode with all the building possibilities. I will admit that the standard fare was growing tired, but my excitement over this game has really got my back into the swing of gaming. Can’t wait for multiplayer.

Comic Jumper

I discovered the joys of Comic Jumper. Okay, the gameplay is a bit repetitive, but the dialogue makes it totally worth it. I can tell Twisted Pixel had a ton of fun making this game. I also played Splinter Cell Conviction. This was definately my least favorite game in the series. The controls and stealth aspects were totally different, and the story line was blah.

I’m playing single dad this week so I’ll be lucky to pick up a controller. I do kind of want to finally beat Halo: Reach so I’ll probably go for that if I can get a few minutes. I usually don’t get much free time in December, so my gaming is definitely going to be even more sparse than usual. I’m gonna need to do some serious damage with a boomstick here soon to keep sane.

Last week I managed to squeeze in a few hours of Call of Duty: Black Ops, but with the holiday I didn’t have much time to do anything else. My fianceé and I celebrate the Jewish holiday Hanukkah, which started on December 1, and as many of you know comes with 8 days of gifts. So far we’ve accumulated Plants vs Zombies (w/Peggle & Zuma) for Xbox 360, Dead Rising (360), Donkey Kong Country Returns (Wii), and EA Sports Active 2 (Wii). There are still 4 more days of Hanukkah left, and it’s a possibility that there will be more games on the way. We will also be celebrating Christmas later this month and there could be more games in sight there as well. For this week, however, I am hoping to get some PvZ in and I’d like to try Dead Rising and DK Returns at some point.

Donkey Kong Country Returns

The difficulty makes me angry, too

I’m still playing through the Halo: Reach campaign when I can this week, as well as getting in some time with Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Donkey Kong Country Returns. I played Epic Mickey for a bit last week, and was legitimately disappointed. I want to love that game so bad, but if the gameplay doesn’t improve quickly, I don’t know if I’ll even be able to keep playing it. The graphics look worse than most games on my iPhone do now, so that doesn’t help matters much.

Those last week didn’t yield as much playing time as I would have liked, hopefully this upcoming week will have some time in store. I’ve started working my way through Uncharted on my fancy new PS3, it’s really fun so far. Clearly I’m very late to this party but I’m enjoying it. I haven’t had to the chance to pick up Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood for a week or two, so I’m looking forward to getting some more time in with that. Should be a good week.

Meanwhile… What are you playing?

I am currently playing through Donkey Kong Country Returns and cursing loudly at the TV. When I have had enough, I have been comforting myself with the endless random encounters in Final Fantasy IV: The after years. The plot is good but you cant walk 2 pixels without a random battle with very strong monsters.

So in short Im raging at DKCR then calming myself down by raging about random battles.

    I must be crazy.

Next time you feel like raging have a couple dumbells next to you while playing videosgames. when you get pissed do some curls so then in a couple weeks when you rage your shirt will start to tear like the hulk.

Has anyone played civilization wars? i found it on and it is awesome. mouse click game but still very addicting with the many level ups and upgrades to magic and army.
