On April 22, an app was released that let subscribers of MLB.TV watch any game they like on the PS3. You have to download it from the Playstation Store, it’s a small 16MB file and installs under the video section on the XMB.
You can watch any game scheduled for that day as well and go back to the beginning of the season and watch any games you might have missed like the no-hitter thrown by Ubaldo Jimenez for the Rockies on April 17th.
Another cool feature allows you to select either the home or road feed so you get the biased announcer you want to hear.
There are also DVR functions (only available in MLB.TV Premium), which lets you skip ahead to whatever inning you would like to watch, given that the game is past or in that inning. One thing it does not do is time travel, so there is that.
If you don’t have a television provider and love baseball, this is a very attractive option. And another thing that will get the fanboys saying that the PS3 pwns the 360.
MLB.TV is available in two packages. MLB.TV is $99.95 and MLB.TV Premium is $119.95 for a one year subscription. Monthly rates are also available.
