For those of you who haven’t been paying attention to the video game world recently, Microsoft’s hopeful holiday blockbuster will soon be upon us. In fact, it will be here next week. The Kinect is coming and the device will bring about a ‘revolution’ of sorts to the industry. And it seems like the pre-order sales are doing quite well on Amazon.com, especially after Oprah gave away the device to everyone in her audience during her “Next Big Thing” show.
Microsoft has said they wanted at least 3 million in sales of the Kinect this holiday season. While that is not a totally unreachable figure, I wonder how many 360/Kinect bundles will count in the final number. In a past REPLY TO ALL, it seemed like Justin and myself were the only ones who were buying at launch. However, we were buying it more for other people than for ourselves.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m really excited about the Kinect and can’t wait to play it. In my excitement, my wife and I may or may not have hit a few stores yesterday looking for a Kinect demo station to play.
I know I’m late to the pre-order party, but I just tried to get one on Amazon and it’s sold out. I did buy a copy of Dance Central for $46.99 though. It looks like it’s going to be a hard item to find this holiday season. Let’s just hope that it’s not scarce on purpose.
