I think one of the main reasons I love indie games is because they often feature awesome pixel art and music that stimulates the retro part of my brain. Today, I was stimulated by Tower of Heaven, an indie game from 2009 that just got a flash port.
The game has you trying to ascend the tower’s levels, but the time limits make it a little trickier than what it sounds. The design and gameplay is fun, and just reinforces my jealousy of people who can create things like this.
The art and music are decidedly Game Boy-esque, and if you’re lucky enough to beat the 11 stages there is a level editor where you can make your own. The game was released by Askiisoft, with an excellent soundtrack by flashygoodness that you can purchase for $1 on BandCamp, although I’d recommend paying a little more. It’s worth it.
