Dear Esther is the Latest Indie Fund Success

Dear Esther

There's mystery afoot...I think.

I reported on the independent publishing group Indie Fund’s first success with QUBE a month ago and am happy to report that the indie dream team has done it again with the atmospheric first person adventure game, Dear Esther.

The game was able to make back Indie Fund’s initial investment in 5.5 hours according to the publisher’s website, thus launching the game’s creators, thechineseroom into the profit zone.

This is great news considering the different approach to narrative and action that Dear Esther is taking, but only time will tell whether the more artistic approach catches fire or stays niche. Either way, my copy is downloading as we speak so stay tuned for the unfiltered reaction and my potential descent into the world of games without explosions.
