5 must have Xbox 360 games in 2011

There are so many great looking games looking to come out in 2011 that I can’t help but find it hard to choose which ones to get – and when! If you’re like myself, you may have a limited budget for video games so if there are just five games to buy this year on Xbox 360 what would they be?

L.A. Noire

Can they repeat Red Dead Redemption's success?

L.A. Noire

Every trailer, screenshot and bit of information about this game screams blockbuster. You will play as Cole Phelps in post-world-war Los Angeles trying to bring law and order to the corrupt city. L.A. Noire features ground-breaking facial animation technology, an open-world concept and in-depth detective and problem solving challenges. I might also mention it was created by Team Bondi in conjunction with Rockstar Games (those behind Red Dead Redemption). The game will be released for Xbox 360 and PS3 on May 17, 2011.

Dragon Age II

Will the Mass Effect formula for success translate to fantasy?

Dragon Age II

Dragon Age II is the sequel to the expansive RPG Dragon Age: Origins released in 2009. This game will follow the Mass Effect formula by focusing on a single character and allow you to customize that character. This is done to include voice-acting for the main character You will dive into the world of Dragon Age and partake in your rise to power. The game will be released to consoles on March 8, 2011.

Mass Effect 3

Is the third time still the charm after huge success?

Mass Effect 3

The Mass Effect series got a brief nod in the Dragon Age section, but hold on to your butts because Mass Effect 3 is slated to come out in the fourth quarter of 2011. That means this holiday season you should see Shepard come back to Earth to defend the human race. If you’ve been following and living the Mass Effect story all of these years you are probably one of the millions who cannot wait to get back into action.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

New engine. New quests. New life in a long series?

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is being pretty tight-lipped about everything you experience, but here is what I know for sure: new land, new engine, new story and new quest-system. Oh, and there will be dragons. I’m pretty stoked about this game, and it’s set to come out on November 11, 2011.

Brink

Can Brink improve on the standard FPS genre?

Brink

This might just be the year for EA and Bethesda because the next game, Brink, comes from Bethesda. It’s a very promising first person shooter that focuses more on teamwork and classes than most shooter games. With its SMART (Smooth Movement Across Random Terrain, Borderlands-esque graphics and team-based quest system the game may breathe a little life into the FPS genre. The game is set to release on May 17, 2011.
