The major publishers are focusing their efforts to figure out how to get you to buy their games new. EA recently introduced the Online Pass for their sports games, making it so rentals and used games will have to pay $10 to register their game to play online (new game purchases get the registration code for free). Ubisoft and Activision will be watching the results closely. However, Capcom has a different trick up its sleeve and would rather you just hold onto their games for as long as possible. Looking through the list of Achievements/Trophies in Lost Planet 2, you can earn 20 Gamerscore or a Bronze Trophy when you “Celebrate your six-month anniversary with LOST PLANET 2.”
There are of course two flaws to Capcom’s plan.
- You have to make a better game than this in order for me to hold onto it for 6 months
- The internet (and myself) are just going to encourage people to adjust their system clock in order to unlock this otherwise impossible achievement.
I advise putting some of your ingenuity into your gameplay, Capcom, until then I’ll wait to game your cheap achievements from the bargain bin.
